What is an ASIC

An ASIC (Application Specific Integrated Circuit) is an integrated circuit developed for a specific application through which is possible to reach performances otherwise not achievable with a General Purpose System.

Why an ASIC

With an ASIC there is the opportunity of creating complex systems within a single integrated circuit so allowing a  considerable reduction of space. In an ASIC there could be the equivalent of a complete system on Printed Circuit Board(PCB) with more speed, accuracy and lower power dissipation. An ASIC moreover allows to defend better your IDEAS, virtually erasing the problem of reverse engineering.
